The Department of Monetary Theory and Policy (DMTP) deals with professional issues in the field of monetary theory and policy, central banking, international finance, financial stability and financial market regulation and supervision. Areas of interest are presented by the department both in the form of institutional analysis and in terms of management and regulation of financial risks and conditions for achieving macroeconomic balance. The department focuses on the integration of knowledge from economic practice into the teaching of compulsory and optional subjects. These are, for example, the relationship between the economic and financial cycles, the risks of the Eurozone’s disintegration in connection with the enormous indebtedness of individual countries, the problems of implementing the new Basel III regulatory rules and non-traditional central bank procedures in financial and economic crises. KMTP provides teaching in bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral study fields accredited by the University of Economics in Prague. It focuses on teaching both theoretically and practically oriented subjects, and prepares students for future occupations in the financial sector, in manufacturing and trading companies or in professional positions in the field of public administration.
